Graham Cridland - PAA Coach

Having been an angler since the age of 20, and like many people, have seen many changes - particularly in recent years. I have found that people young and old can be careless or take their environment for granted. When asked about this I was informed that some of them had last participated in a fishing day with around 40 to 60 other people. The watercraft and knowledge of fishing and angling cannot be taught in just one day. Fishing is not just about catching fish.

Fishing is also about:

  • Learning how to handle fish.
  • Learning to treat wounds.
  • Learning to spot disease.
  • Learning the signs of pollution and lack of oxygen.
  • Understanding The effects of discarded fishing line and litter on Wildlife and the environment.
  • Knowing Which agencies to contact.
  • Sitting in tranquil surroundings and seeing Mother Nature at her very best.

I have recently taught a family of 8 on a Beginners course to fish. The group consisted of Father, Mother and 4 boys aged 16yrs to 9yrs old, plus the Mother's brother and sister. The biggest fish each one caught was an 8lb 10oz common carp (F), a 13lb 14oz mirror carp (M), a 16lb mirror carp (16yr old), a 10lb 3oz common carp (14 yr old), a 2lb roach and 5lb 10oz common carp (11 yr old), a 1lb 8oz roach and a 2lb 9oz mirror carp (9 yr old), a 13lb 12oz mirror carp (B) and finally an 8lb 3oz common carp (S). Another young man who did an Advanced Course, caught his first ever double figure fish when he caught a 13lb 12oz mirror carp. These are only some of the people of different ages that I have taught and if I can do that for them, what could I do for you? If you have thought of taking up fishing, wanting to return or refresh your angling skills there is a course to suit. I can also arrange Corporate days for businesses including: lunch, photos, prizes and optional evening meal. If you would like a day out for clients and staff with a difference, then please contact me. So come on and have a fun day ‘LET’S GET FISHING!'
